How to Achieve Something Great in 30 Days

What can you achieve in 30 days?

Matt Cutt, a speaker featured at TED, gave a presentation called “Try Something New for 30 Days”. It’s a video you have to watch if you're the kind of person interested in achieving more than sub-par. Matt teaches us that if you want something bad enough, you can do anything for 30 days. Think about it – what do you want to achieve in your life and your business? As Matt says,
“I guarantee you, the next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot for the next 30 days?”
I love the idea of not making excuses in our lives. Too often we get caught up in the day-to-day agenda of being busy. "I'm too busy to do something unique!" we might say. In all reality, I think the real reason we don't venture out and achieve is because we're afraid. The fear of failure is enough to keep most people from trying most things in life. How sad would it be to lie on your death bed and know that you never tried anything that made you nervous, excited, passionate, or scared out of your mind? How sad would it be to know that all you did was go to work each day, come home to wrap up the routine, and then go do bed in preparation for another whopping round of the exact same thing tomorrow? Even if you do fail, it's better to have tasted life and failed than to have made excuses while sitting on the sidelines.

This is a powerful idea. Too often our lives pass by us with lightening like speed often leaving us clueless as to where our time went or what we achieved. So here is my question for you: What do you want to achieve?

Here are a few ideas that inspire me:
 1. Write a book on business strategy
 2. Go to the gym every day
 3. Contact 20 new business owners each day and connect
 4. Blog daily
 5. Write a song on the guitar each day
 6. Learn 10 words in Chinese each day
 7. Do something fun with my wife each day
 8. Avoid Facebook for 30 days and actually talk to people in person
 9. Start a new business in 30 days
 10. Reach a sales goal in my company that I never thought I could hit
